Shortly after announcing that the new Smart InSole had reached market, BioElectronics follow-up with news that the company will now target the C-Section market. A new clinical trial will be headed by "Jose Carvalho, MD, PhD, FANZCA, FRCPC, Professor and Director of Anesthesia and Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Toronto, Mount Sinai Hospital, a leading authority on pain management, is the lead investigator for this significant post-operative pain study," according to a press release issued last week.
Results from the study, if successful, will be used to support a new FDA application for the C-Section indication.
Recent life from BIEL is encouraging, given a few months of relative silent and a share price that had gone sub-penny for a while, but one huge hurdle still remains - convincing the FDA that this small company's products are worthy of market, especially and over-the-counter (OTC) clearance in the United States.
In the meantime, while waiting - and waiting - and waiting - on the FDA, BioElectronics has targeted foreign markets for its products, where advertising campaigns in both Canada and the UK are well underway.
It's possible that foreign market sales will grow enough to keep the company afloat, but what investors want to see is a mass entry into the coveted US market - and that's where waiting on the FDA comes in. A quick search of Amazon.com's BioElectronics products shows the variety of offerings available from the company, in both human and pet care, but again - these products are best served by being on the store shelves.
A rebound in BIEL share price to near two cents has stalled, but the volatility is worth noting. Reports still come in from investors about trouble trading the BIEL stock, also a barrier to attracting new investors.
Also of note from the recent press release, "Results from Dr. Carvalho's study, along with the data from the blepharoplasty, wound care, heel pain, and breast augmentation studies, will be published to further document the clinical evidence of our unique efficacious and cost effective products."
Disclosure: Long BIEL.
