Having been labeled as a 'Stock to Watch' this week because of the company's upcoming participation in the 'International Congress of the German Sepsis Society' n Weimar, Germany, Cytosorbents made headlines again on Wednesday morning - the day the conference is to start - by announcing the secondary results from the European sepsis trial that met its primary endpoint and provided the ammunition for a CE Mark approval in Europe.

According to a press release issued by the company before Wednesday's market open, the additional data were as encouraging as the first release, and provide the frame work for future application in the medical field by Doctors in treating severe sepsis and other conditions where high cytokine levels are found in the blood.

To confirm the enouraging prospects for CytoSorb moving forward, Dr. Phillip Chan, the company's Chief Executive Officer, stated that, "The European Sepsis Trial exceeded our expectations. We demonstrated the safe and effective use of CytoSorb™ as a powerful cytokine filter in critically-ill patients, obtained European regulatory approval for CytoSorb™, and now have data that clinicians can use today to guide their real-world usage of the device."

With the additional data out, and the methodical market release effectively now in its roll-out stages, things could start to get interesting again for Cytosorbents as the informational campaign kicks off at the sepsis Congress in Germany this week.

Already the CTSO share price has rebounded from its recent lows of fourteen cents, now trading for nearly a dime higher, and as the word gets out that the Cytosorbents game plan is in motion, a trek higher to previously-achieved highs could be in store.

Adding fuel to another significant run, could be more talk of the potential for government money to be thrown CTSO's way, possibly DARPA money, as well as evidence that commercialization is taking full effect.

As talks proceed with the US FDA and the company develops a trial design to that agency's liking, it's also not out of the realm of expectations that partnership talks could materialize, adding additional intrigue to an already-exciting plot line.

The data is out, the word is getting out - as evidenced by today's participation in the German sepsis Congress - and it's game time now for Cytosorbents.

Keep an eye on this one, and expect some volatility.

Disclosure: Long CTSO.
